Well Sternal Journalists,
I got good news and bad news and they’re both that I’ve started another podcast. It’s bad news because I don’t think we really need more of them so much as I felt compelled to from a marketing perspective. It’s good news because I felt a creative itch and scratched it and that’s always nice.
It’s called “A Violent Act of Desperation” because I think it’s generally an act of desperation when one starts a podcast and there’s something violent (to me) about the way any thoughtless content put into the world destroys our attention and sense of self.
It is only really digestible in video format right now, but I’ll experiment with it. You get to watch me have a little breakdown about the existence of the podcast at all and then talk to Sam about whether or not his TikTok fame is a prison.
It’s also only 12 minutes long which, as I point out on the episode, is a pretty impressive efficiency gain compared to my prior efforts (I think the longest episode of Word With Friend was over three hours, to Producer Samee’s (different Sam) chagrin).
That being said, it is only there if you’re looking to kill 12 minutes. You do not need to watch it, you will not be quizzed. It’s
Anyway, I decided that if I continue this and it gains fans, that they will be called “The Violet Desperados” because I think “Violent Desperates” is a little too much of a downer. So yee-haw and purplish!
Recommendations.
Country Road (Cover). Song. I stumbled upon the Toots & The Maytals reggae cover of this classic. It BANGS and it is SMOOTH. Give it a listen.
Glass Onion. Movie. I din’t like this as much as Knives Out, but literally everyone I’ve talked to did so I think I’m wrong.
Disenchanted. Movie. I watched this Enchanted sequel over Kristen’s shoulder a few weeks ago and it did seem very fun. Planning to sit down and actually watch it.
Authentic: The Story of Tablo. Podcast. The story of a Korean rap star being taken down by online mobs who claim he lied about his college education. It’s a history of cyberbullying with little pepperings of the evolution of Korean hip hop. It took me a second to get into it, but now I’m hooked!
Alrighty, sending love and see ya next week! Yee-haw and purplish!
