A fun mental health podcast I was on; and the debut of my sketch, Bare Minimum Monkey Monday
Plus: My LA Fringe preview is THIS FRIDAY!
Hello Sternal Journalists,
Loose with the formatting this week. I just have three things (a show! a podcast you can listen to! a sketch you can watch!) to quickly share and then I’m outta here:
100 Julian Sterns Ranked By Hotness Alone: LA Edition!
It’s this Friday at 8pm in Santa Monica. Free parking. It will be fun and chaotic. If you want or need a comp, lemme know! Tickets here:

New sketch!
I wrote and shot this sketch with my good friend Austin Davison behind the camera, and my other good friends Stephen Cha and Maddie Ogden in front of the camera. You may have seen/heard Maddie in the Snack Attack episodes of Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend; and you may have seen/heard Stephen in many of the same open mics I go to. I care deeply about the issue at the center of this sketch, and really hope that you watch it.
SSRI’m Okay Podcast
My friend the very funny Macey Isaacs (Netflix is a Joke, Drybar, Don’t Tell) and my friendly acquaintance—but I believe we can get further—Bijan Zarrabi (Resident Psychiatry Doctor, Harvard Med School) have a podcast about comedy and mental health. It has the impressively portmanteau’d name, SSRI’m Okay. I joined them to talk about OCD, and it’s a genuinely a fun and informative convo.

If everyone who reads the SternJourn watched this, mine would be the most viewed episode of their pod and I need that kinda heat.
Recommendations
Kyoto Has Zero Zen. Article. I enjoyed this New York mag article about how Kyoto has been totally terrorized by tourists over the past decade. In terms of world problems, tourists being douchebags is kinda low on the intensity list but I would argue that all of the really bad stuff happening is downstream of seemingly more innocuous things like this. It’s behind a paywall, so if they don’t give a free article and you live in L.A., I will give you my physical copy of the magazine to read. Lemme know.
Gran Turismo 7. Video Game. I found this game used after I watched F1, and was enthralled by it today. Maybe I’m a car guy now.
Clipse Tiny Desk Concert. YouTube Video. Pretty cool, right?
Bartender in Destin. Song. I still like country music, even though I don’t talk about it much.
Alrighty, have a great week! Much love!
Julian!
