Appreciate your moms, teachers, and journalists this week!
The Sternal Journal
Not this kind of journalist.
Sternal Journalists!
Today is, as it is called in the newsletter industry, a quickie. First thing's first:
This week includes Teacher Appreciation Day, World Press Freedom Day, and Mother's Day. We certainly should not be making three of the most important types of people share a week, but they can handle it as they already do some of the most important thankless jobs there are.
So if this newsletter brings you anything, let it be this challenge: right now, take out a scrap of paper and write one sentence of appreciation about a mother, one about a teacher, and one about a journalist in your life.
That last one might be the hardest because we may not traditionally think of journalists in such a blindingly positive light as mothers and teachers, but they are vital! VITAL! To our survival right now. Maybe there's an independent newspaper doing great work in your area. Check em out.
So yeah. Thank you mothers, teachers, and journalists. And thank your mothers, teachers, and journalists.
Other thing? I am in a good old fashioned text-to-vote comedy competition where my old stand up tape is put up against three other comics'! You can watch and vote here! You could also just text 78499 to 22333 to vote for me, but it is abso-truly not important so don't sweat it.
If you need more content, please check out this instagram post where Blue October reposted my ukulele cover of "Hate Me," 6,500 of their fans watched, and quite a number of them eviscerated me in the comments.
My favorite? "This guy is a comedian. A legit comedian." (Yay!) "Which is great because this is awful." (Ooh.)
That should be enough content! I gave you so much last week! Come on, you didn't read the whole thing. You did? Well, maybe go back and look at some of the greatest hits of the Sternal Journal.
Making fun of a Peloton ad!
The origin of the word "Motherfucker"
My accidentally high review of Greta Gerwig's Little Women
A tender conversation about fear an death with my rabbi friend/friend rabbi
If you've read all of those, you are a true fan. Respond with proof and I will send you a prize.
Love to all! (but mostly teachers, journalists, mom)
